Instead of syncing all employees, you can now target specific work locations. Here's how it works.
When do I need this?
In many companies, employees are assigned to different physical or organizational work locations. With location-based synchronization, you can define which work locations should be synchronized to desk.ly—independently of groups or custom fields.
This feature is especially useful when:

One location is ready, another is not

Only specific locations use desk.ly

The synchronization should be rolled out gradually
How it works
The work location selection happens directly in desk.ly. No changes to your HR system are required.
1. Open HR Synchronization in the admin area
Go to the “HR Synchronization” section in the admin area.
2. Select the work locations
In the section “Source settings for synchronization,” you’ll now find a new dropdown field called Work Locations for Synchronization.
Select one or more work locations from the list to specify which locations should be synchronized going forward.
📌 The selection only applies to the locations specified. All other synchronization settings remain unchanged.
ℹ️ If you’re using Personio, it may be necessary—depending on your configuration—to actively enable the work location field for synchronization with desk.ly.
3. Don’t forget to save
After making your selection, click Save changes in the top right corner to apply the update.
What happens to existing users?

Users who were previously synchronized but no longer belong to a selected work location will be deactivated in desk.ly.

New users from selected locations will be created or reactivated during the next sync.
💡 Additional notes

The work location filter is optional. You can remove it at any time to sync all users again.

It works alongside group-based and individual synchronization.

Only users who meet all defined sync filters—e.g., a selected work location and permission group—will be synchronized.

Individually added users are not affected by this filter. They must be managed separately.
